Project for a monument in memory of the Rose Revolution (Project by Gabriela von Habsburg) The Rose Monument made of stone: from young people for the young people in memory of their heroic act for Georgia Young people want to meet there to talk, to relax, to perform, to sunbathe, to sit together or alone, undisturbed, all should be possible. A joint action from the Academy of Arts Sculptors: designing and shaping the stones, working on site to include the population Architects: land use planning, supervising the regulations The stones will come from all parts of Georgia, from quarries, rivers and mountains. (Georgia is exceptionally rich in different stones) The work on the stone and the carving will be done by students of the Academy of Arts. There will be individual solutions to show and express the diversity of Georgia and variety of its landscape. The unity of the monument will be shown by the unitized function; you can sit on it from all sides or even lie on. Each stone should remind of a person important for the freedom, faith and culture of Georgia; people who are or were responsible in the state; merits e.g. in culture, science, sports but also social activities. Each stone should be sponsored. Each stone will have marked on it the name of the person it is dedicated to. The name of the sponsor, the region where it came from and the artist who made it will be listed. We are looking for sponsors (single persons, groups, villages, towns, companies …) people from all over the country. They will be part of the monument. The only cost for the sponsor will be the stone, transport, inscription and mounting. Or only parts of it!
