The President of Georgia Met with the Defence Minister of the French Republic and Awarded him with the Golden Fleece Order

The President of Georgia, H.E. Giorgi Margvelashvili has met with the Defence Minister of the French Republic, Mr. Jean-Yves Le Drian.
 
As a part of the official visit of the Defence Minister, the sides have discussed the issue of developing partnership relationships between France and Georgia and emphasized that the bilateral relations between two countries are furthering and enhancing from year to year. 
 
The Defence Minister, once again stressed the importance of deepening the defense partnership between Georgia and France, as in bilateral, also in NATO format and highlighted the fact that Georgia is a reliable partner for France.
 
The Defence Minister of the French Republic, once again expressed his gratitude to the President for Georgian militaries participation in the peacekeeping missions.
 
The discussion was also focused on the issue of Georgia’s cooperation to combat the terrorism, and Black Sea security.
 
After the meeting, the official awarding ceremony of the France’s Defence Minister was held, at the Presidential Palace.
 
H.E. Giorgi Margvelashvili has awarded the France’s Defence Minister Mr. Jean-Yves Le Drian with the Order of Golden Fleece for outstanding contribution in strengthening the bilateral relations in the area of defense between Georgia and France.
 
The President of Georgia has highlighted the Defence Minister’s contribution to enhancing cooperation between two states and for assisting in the area of defense.
 
 “The French Republic is the firm supporter of Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration process and, also our country’s dominant partner.
 
We highly appreciate French support for strengthening Georgia’s defensibility.
 
I would like to underline the role of France’s Defence Minister for strengthening our country’s cooperation and his contribution for rendering assistance in the area of defense.
 
Undoubtedly, he actively contributed to those important projects that are increasing our country’s security now.
 
Dear, Mr. Minister on behalf of the Georgian nation and my own behalf, I would like to express gratitude for your efforts and tireless activities, as well as for your meritorious contribution to deepening the bilateral relations in the area of defence between Georgia and the French Republic”, - was stated by the President of Georgia.
 
In turn, Mr. Jean-Yves Le Drian has expressed his gratitude to the President of Georgia and emphasized that the award represents the symbol of friendly ties between Georgia and France.
 
“This distinctive honor reflects the importance of the relationship that after signature of our bilateral agreement is implementing in the direction of defense.
 
These relationships will never terminate and has been already developing over the past ten years. Dear, Mr. President, I look at this award as the symbol of current friendly ties between our two countries.
 
I know that the foreign citizen will be awarded, who significantly contributes the Georgians state development, as well as defends its security. You see, how exciting it is for me!
 
Georgia attaches great importance to further cooperation with Georgia”, - was noted by the Defence Minister.
 
In turn, the Defense Minister has awarded Lieutenant-Colonel Mr. Vasil Kopeikin with the Bronze Medal of the National Defence of the French Republic for his effective cooperation in the “Mining” sphere, as well as for receiving the brilliant results on the second level of highest military education.
 
Also, Mr. Jean-Yves Le Drian has awarded the Major Mr. Vakhtang Diasamidze, the captain Mr. Levan Kakhidze and the captain Mr. Eldar Mamrikishvili with the Bronze Medal of the National Defence of the French Republic for their participation in the peacekeeping missions with the French comrade-in-arms.
