President Margvelashvili and President Sargsyan Hold Extended Meeting

The President of Georgia, H.E. Giorgi Margvelashvili has held an extended meeting with the President of the Republic of Armenia, H.E. Serzh Sargsyan, as part of his official visit to Georgia. The parties have discussed economic cooperation and trade relations between Georgia and Armenia.
Evolving cooperation in trade and tourism has been underscored. According to the current data, turnover is increased by 24% and the number of visitors by 18.5%; however, to reach the full potential, the parties have agreed on concrete steps to further advance this cooperation.
The conversation also touched upon the prospects of further developing close cooperation in energy and business sectors, as well as in the areas of culture and education.
As noted, Georgia is ready to share its experience with Armenia gained from Georgia-EU relations, especially when the Comprehensive & Enhanced Partnership Agreement has been signed between the EU and Armenia.
The meeting has also been attended by First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia and Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mr. Dimitri Kumsishvili, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Mikheil Janelidze, Head of Administration of President Margvelashvili Mr. Giorgi Abashishvili, First Deputy Minister of Finance Mr. Giorgi Tabuashvili, Deputy Secretary of the National Security Council Mr. Aleksandre Barbakadze, Advisor to President Margvelashvili for Foreign Affairs Mr. Tengiz Pkhaladze, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to the Republic of Armenia Mr. Giorgi Saganelidze and Head of Public Relations and Communication Department of the Presidential Administration Ms. Sophiko Jajanashvili.
