Presidential Inauguration Rule Is Amended

Giorgi Margvelashvili, President of Georgia has made an amendment to the decree determining the presidential inauguration rule.
“The presidential inauguration rule, written in 2001 has been amended. Since 2001, the Constitution of Georgia has been changed several times, thus this rule is too old and does not reflect the current constitutional reality. Therefore, this amendment came in line with the current constitutional reality and importantly, strengthened the precedent set by President Margvelashvili after meeting the President-elect. The new rule formulates the new president’s role and function in the inauguration process, including in the oath-taking ceremony. This amendment is a continuation of the step that has set a precedent of peaceful transfer of power in the history of this country,” Ana Natsvlishvili, Parliamentary Secretary of President Margvelashvili said.
