Press Conference of the Press Speaker of the President

The Press Speaker of the President of Georgia, Khatia Moistsraphishvili, held a press conference with the media and briefed them on the President’s recent visits.
“Last week, the President of Georgia paid official visits to the Republics of Latvia and Estonia, following her official visit to the Republic of Poland. All three visits were completed with profound results.
“According to President Salome Zourabichvili, all three countries – Poland, Latvia, and Estonia - are among Georgia’s strategic partners, the circle that we rely on. Their support is notably important in the new phase for Georgia, which stands for moving toward the European Union and NATO.
“As President Zourabichvili noted, Georgia’s key message to each of the mentioned countries, as well as to our other partner countries is as follows, during every negotiation process, including bilateral and multilateral formats, our partners should ask for Russia to fulfill its duties towards Georgia. They should also use different types of meetings to discuss Georgia’s occupied territories on a high political level. According to President Zourabichvili, only such discussions can lead to actual results. Besides, our partners should constantly remind Russia that Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration is an irreversible process.
“During meetings in Latvia and Estonia, one more issue was also highlighted. It is not admissible that previous conflicts are shadowed by the more recent ones, reducing the importance of sore issues.
“Georgia’s strategic partners, such as Poland, Latvia, and Estonia, draw significant attention to Georgia’s role in the geopolitical aspect within the Black Sea. In this respect, our country is actively discussed when talking about regional stability, security, and economic development.
“Georgia is returning back to its historical family – in Europe. With these words, our strategic partners assessed the results of President Zourabichvili’s visits.
“Moreover, as you know, yesterday, the President of Georgia attended the inauguration of the newly-elected President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. Despite the busy agenda and a large number of guests, a one-on-one meeting was held between President Zourabichvili and President Zelensky.
“As President Zourabichvili emphasized, Georgia and Ukraine has mutual interests and similar issues, such as integration in the European Union and problems related to occupied territories. Thus, these two countries have mutual plans and a strong will for strategic cooperation”, stated Khatia Moistsraphishvili.
The Press Speaker of the President also noted that, according to the President’s assessment, by-elections in Georgia were fulfilled, results are legitimate and this is important. President Zourabichvili also assumes that recognition of the election results is an indicator for democracy, which we probably should remind to several political forces. It was demonstrated well in Ukraine that together with diverse honored guests, previous presidents of Ukraine also attended the inauguration of Volodymyr Zelensky. According to her, a few drawbacks and violations occurred in the process of elections, but this does not suspect the legitimacy of the results. On the other hand, the responsible authorities should work on these issues and provide solutions for the future elections.
Khatia Moistsraphishvili stated that the President of Georgia highly prioritizes advancement of the regions. She visits regions constantly and gets introduced to local problematic issues. In this respect, today President Zourabichvili will participate in the annual forum on “Institutional Dialogue between the State and Local Authorities” held in Tskaltubo.

President Salome Zourabichvili will deliver a speech to the participants of the forum.
