Giorgi Margvelashvili Opens International Conference in Batumi

President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili opened international conference – “using international agreements by constitutional courts and relevant institutes: challenges for dialogue” in Batumi Today.
The Head of State address to the audience with a speech. According to Giorgi Margvelashvili strengthening Georgian constitutional institutions, enforcing and deepening their role is of special interest for the development of the country.
“Constitutional court is one of the most significant constitution institutes; the institute that is one of the main guarantees of enforcing constitutional law in daily life.
In this regard the Georgian constitutional law has made an important path since the independence of Georgia and I believe that this path will be more deepened.
The constitution is alive and effective when it is not a legal document but it is the field of interest for society and constitutional debates are ongoing intensively”, - Giorgi Margvelashvili noted at the conference.
The conference participants were addressed and the session was attended by Chairman of the Constitutional court Giorgi Papuashvili, Justice Minister Tea Tsulukiani and Head of constitutional justice department of EU Venice Commission Schnuz Rudolf Dur.
The Georgian Constitutional Court hosts the delegation of 40 countries within the European constitutional courts congress at international conference, including chairmen of constitutional courts, vice presidents and members of Venice Commission; Vice President of European Court of human rights. The conference will be finished on September 12.
In 2014 the Georgian Constitution Court obtained the chairmanship of European Constitutional Courts Congress for the term of 3 years.
