The President of Georgia has met with the Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs

The President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili has met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the kingdom of Norway, Børge Brende.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the relations in political, trade-economic, energy and cultural fields between the two countries and the prospects of enhancing cooperation. One of the main topics of the meeting was the facilitation of issuance of visas between Georgia and Norway and the introduction of favorable conditions for the Georgian citizens to travel to the territory of the Kingdom of Norway. Considerable attention was paid to the issues of regional security, the current situation on Georgia's occupied territories and Russia's policy towards the neighboring countries. The parties underlined the inadmissibility of the so-called "Alliance and integration" agreements signed between the Russian Federation and the Sokhumi and Tskhinvali puppet regimes. The Head of State thanked Børge Brende for the Norwegian government’s support expressed towards the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia as well as the country’s European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations. In turn, the Norwegian Foreign Minister stressed the importance of the steps taken by Georgia in the country's democratization process. Børge Brende also expressed his gratitude for Georgia's contribution to ensuring the international security, in particular, for its participation in NATO- led peacekeeping missions and reiterated Norway's support for the Georgian side on the path of NATO integration. The sides expressed hope that, due to the joint efforts, the existing fruitful cooperation between the two countries will be further enhanced and strengthened.
Within the framework of an official visit, Norway's Foreign Minister will visit the occupation line, as well. Børge Brende will honor the memory of the soldiers fallen for the unity of Georgia and lay a wreath at the memorial of the heroes.
