President Zourabichvili Awarded by U.S.-based International Organization for Georgia’s Friendship with Jewish People and Israel

U.S.-based Friends of Zion, an international organization that brings together more than 70 million members, awarded President Salome Zourabichvili with the Friends of Zion Award in her capacity as head of state of Georgia, for the friendship and support provided to the Jewish people and to the State of Israel by the Georgian people.

U.S. Presidents George W. Bush and Donald J. Trump have both been recipients of the award by the organization, first chaired by former Israeli President Shimon Peres.

Mike Evans, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Friends of Zion Museum, presented the award to President Zourabichvili, in front of H.E. Miri Regev, Minister of Culture and Sport of Israel, and other senior officials also in attendance of the ceremony.

According to Mr. Evans, the organization counts more than 40 world leaders in its ranks, including presidents, kings, princes, and princesses, and it is the first time that so many international leaders are gathered in the World Holocaust Forum to fight against antisemitism and support the State of Israel.

“I had not realized how the President of Georgia is loved. I know diplomats from throughout the world and when I talked to them about her coming, they all knew her, from the United Nations to France or to Egypt. They were telling me about this brilliant woman that they have great admiration for. So, we are honored to have her here at the Friends of Zion,” said Mike Evans.
