President Margvelashvili Continues Meetings in the US Congress to Consolidate Support for Georgia

"Archil Tatunashvili was a citizen of Georgia who participated in international missions to protect global security. He died a few weeks ago in the occupied region of Georgia. This is another alarming signal that Russia attempts to destabilize the region," the President of Georgia, H.E. Giorgi Margvelashvili said at the meeting with Paul Ryan, Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy, House Majority Leader and Ted Poe, Member of the US House of Representatives.
According to President Margvelashvili, Russian occupation of Georgia and announcement of Georgia's regions as independent states is a historic injustice. Georgia has been punished for deciding to become independent. Georgian people will never betray their national identity.
The meeting focused on Georgia's NATO integration process and the upcoming NATO Summit. The Congressmen thanked President Margvelashvili for Georgia’s participation in international missions and once again underlined the importance of the country’s democratic reformation and the US-Georgia bilateral relations.
President Margvelashvili’s visit to Washington will end on March 16. The visit aims at strengthening the US support for Georgia’s security, intensifying the US-Georgia dialogue and consolidating Georgia's supporters.
