President Margvelashvili: We Have Seen a Complete Collapse of Political and Administrative Actions and a Whole Set of Mistakes

President of Georgia, H.E. Giorgi Margvelashvili has assessed recent developments in the country. He believes that Georgian society has witnessed a complete collapse of both political and administrative actions and a whole set of mistakes.
"How could we reach the point of civil confrontation within a few hours? This question remains unanswered and, naturally, requires a direct response,” President Margvelashvili said, highlighting that Georgian society aims at upholding freedom of expression and at the same time maintaining order in the streets of Tbilisi, as well as in the socio-political process.
According to President Margvelashvili, representatives of his Administration have been on-site since the very first minutes of the demonstration to observe developments in 24-hour regime. They have been emphasizing their main objective – not to complicate or further escalate the situation.
“I would like to express my gratitude to the patrol officers who stood there and performed their duty – de-escalated confrontation between the two parties. I would like to thank them for the hard work that they were responsible for and that they fulfilled,” President Margvelashvili added.
