President Discusses Humanitarian Crisis in Occupied Territories with Malaysian Speaker of the House of Representatives

President Salome Zourabichvili met with Tan Sri Dato' Mohamad Ariff bin Md Yusof, Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Federation of Malaysia, who is paying a three-day official visit to Georgia with a delegation from the House of Representatives of the Federation of Malaysia.
Their discussion was focused on the development and acceleration of bilateral relations with Malaysia. The President spoke about the grave humanitarian crisis in Georgia’s occupied territories, briefing the Speaker on the seizure of Georgian-labeled medicines from pharmacies in the Tskhinvali region, which is harmful to both ethnic Georgians and to Ossetians living in the occupied territories.
The President also discussed the possibilities of enhancing economic relations with the Malaysian delegation. In 2019, 2903 Malaysian tourists visited Georgia, a 100% increase from 2018.
