Federal President of Germany Congratulates Georgia on National Day

Giorgi Margvelashvili, President of Georgia has received a congratulatory letter from Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the Federal President of the Federal Republic of Germany.
“On behalf of the German people and in my personal name, I wholeheartedly congratulate you and Georgian people on May 26, the National Day of Georgia.
This celebration is special for your country this year, as you celebrate the 100th anniversary of establishing the First Republic of Georgia.
Germany and Georgia share long-term friendly and close relations. German emigrants who settled down in your country 200 years ago also greatly contributed to shaping these ties.
I am certain that we will continue putting efforts in further deepening our brilliant relations in the areas of politics, economics and culture. Presenting Georgia, as it happened in Germany-Georgia friendship year in 2017, as the Guest of Honor at the Frankfurt Book Fair this autumn will also contribute to this process.
Since gaining independence for the first time, Georgia has gone through a turbulent era. I am glad that your country has successfully been moving forward on the path of political and economic consolidation and rapprochement with Europe for the past years.
Germany will assist Georgia in implementing important reforms in the future as well.
I wish you good health and well-being and wish Georgia peace, freedom, unity and prosperity,” official congratulatory letter of Frank-Walter Steinmeier reads.
