The President of Georgia Attends Opening Exhibition of Italian Artist Giorgio de Chirico

President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili attended the opening exhibition of Italian artist Giorgio de Chirico, entitled “Esoterico and Chirico. Traveler between Two Worlds.”

The President emphasized the importance of the exhibit and stated that the exposition is a real gift for Georgian society.

According to the statement made by the President, it is evident that Italy is giving Georgia a chance for hosting Europe’s cultural season in 2019. This will pave the way for Georgia to come closer to Europe.

“It is of paramount importance that Georgia hosts European-level exhibits. This is something you can see in Paris or in Rome and in other European capitals as well. Taking such steps, we are gently assuring everyone that we are a true cultural member of Europe, we belong there, and with our civilization and with our past, we maintain the cultural level necessary in the course following Europe,” said the President of Georgia.

The Ambassador of Italy to Georgia, Antonio Enrico Bartoli, stated that the aim of the art created by Giorgio de Chirico is to build a bridge between reality and dream. The horses are an indication of masculine strength interlocked with mythology and the dolls are manifesting the desolation of human beings.
