President Margvelashvili Opens Museum of Occupation in Gori

On the occasion of the Soviet Occupation Day, the President of Georgia, H.E. Giorgi Margvelashvili has opened the museum of occupation in Gori. The museum has been opened with the financial support of the Presidential Reserve Fund, while the project has been implemented by the Public Union Bridge of Friendship “Kartlosi”.
The project aims at raising public awareness of the occupation and annexation of Georgia by the Russian Federation. Museums of occupation will also be opened in Kareli, Khashuri, Kaspi, Ergneti and Guria regions.
As part of the same campaign, President Margvelashvili will deliver a public lecture on the Independence Day of Georgia at Gori University.
"It is very symbolic that the museum of occupation is opened at Gori University. We took the initiative to open museums of occupation along the occupied territories of Georgia several months ago, in order each of us, every citizen of Georgia, to remember and never tolerate the occupation. We should contribute to our country's de-occupation. Our occupant’s actions should permanently remain in our memory, never to make the same mistake in relation with the occupant and never to think that the occupant will back down,” the Head of Administration of President Margvelashvili, Mr. Giorgi Abashishvili said.
