Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia Presents Credentials to President Margvelashvili

Carl Hartzell, newly appointed Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia has held a meeting with Giorgi Margvelashvili, President of Georgia to present credentials. The meeting, held at the Presidential Palace, focused on Georgia's European integration, the Association Agreement and challenges facing Georgia's territorial integrity.
According to Tengiz Pkhaladze, Advisor to President Margvelashvili for Foreign Affairs, European integration is Georgia’s one of the top priorities, therefore, the meeting focused on the steps ahead to reach the country’s ultimate goal.
"The EU is actively involved in the implementation of ongoing democratic reforms in the country. The EU Monitoring Mission also plays a significant role. We have also discussed security challenges," Tengiz Pkhaladze said.
Carl Hartzell said it is an honor to be the Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia and will spare no efforts to fulfill his duties.
“I am very excited about coming here in Georgia. I am now formally the Ambassador of the European Union. I had a very good meeting with the President, we shared views on Georgia-EU relations and the steps ahead. We have very closely-aligned views and we would like to further advance our relationship that is already excellent,” Carl Hartzell said.
