President congratulates TSU on the 96th anniversary

President of Georgia attended the event dedicated to the 96th anniversary of founding the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University today. Together with TSU rector Lado Papava, Giorgi Margvelashvili unveiled the renewed busts of the founder of the Tbilisi State University Ivane Javakhishvili and the first rector of the TSU, Petre Melikishvili.
The head of the state delivered a speech before the audience, emphasizing the role of the University in the life of the country and its society and congratulated the professors, students and the graduates of the TSU on the 96th anniversary of the founding this significant educational institution.
"I should emphasize the importance of our university for the development and the future of the nation and the country. We all know that this is a hearth of science, youth, but also, this is the place of moral and mental formation. This university has always played great role in the process of identification of our country and is still doing so. There are a lot of things that link with these walls, like making the first steps in science or sharing other values," President announced.
The professors-lecturers of the Tbilisi State University thanked the president for attending the event. Rector, Vladimer Papava decorated President Margvelashvili with the University Medal.
