President meets the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan’s parliament

President Margvelashvili and the Georgian delegation today held a meeting with the Speaker of the House of Representatives of Japan’s Parliament during the official visit to the country. Giorgi Margvelashvili and Bunmei Ibuki discussed bilateral relations and the prospects for further cooperation between Georgia and Japan. The sides also agreed on the enhancement of cooperation on parliamentary level.

Georgia’s territorial problems, Georgia-Russia relations were also discussed at the meeting, where the President of Georgia emphasized the unpleasant reality, which Georgia has encountered as a result of the non-constructive policy of the Russian Federation. The annexation of Crimea by Russia was also touched.

Giorgi Margvelashvili thanked the Japanese authorities for their steadfast support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty and non-recognition policy as well.

Mr. Ibuki hosted the President of Georgia personally and guided him in a tour in the parliament building.

The meeting was attended by the members of the parliament of Georgia, Nana Keinishvili, Shota Khabareli, Gia Tsagareishvili, Deputy Foreign Minister Vladimer Gurgenidze, National Security Secretary Irine Imerlishvili and other members of the delegation.
