President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili hosted the European Union's Special Representative for Legal Reforms and Human Rights in Georgia, Thomas Hammarberg. At the meeting, the sides spoke about the reforms, which are carried out in Georgia for the protection of human rights. Mr. Hammarberg said after the meeting that he had a very constructive conversation with the president.

„We talked about the efforts when it comes to protection of human rights - the strategy that is going to be put to the parliament for adoption with the basic principles of human rights and then the action plan, which is to be adopted by the government itself and the fact that these two documents would contain all the basic human rights, which would be important for Georgia to implement in reality, protection of the vulnerable groups in society, including minorities, but also emphasizing the need of children in the country. So we had a very constructive discussion and of course, the president was willing to support this development to make Georgia one of the best countries in Europe when it comes to respecting human rights“ - Thomas Hammarberg stated.
