President met with his French counterpart in Vilnius

Meeting of Georgian and French Presidents was held in Vilnius, Lithuania, within the Eastern Partnership Summit today. The parties discussed a wide range of bilateral and multilateral issues. President Margvelashvili thanked François Hollande for the support demonstrated to Georgia’s European course and towards its territorial integrity, non-recognition policy and for assistance provided in various spheres. The two presidents also hailed the role played by France to regulate situation between Russia and Georgia during the Russian military intervention in August 2008.
President of France in his turn emphasized the significance of the initialing of Association Agreement between Georgia and EU and mentioned that France supported the process of bringing Georgia closer to European and Euro-Atlantic standards for further membership and the conduct of democratic reforms.
Giorgi Margvelashvili and François Hollande have also emphasized the need to enhance cooperation in the spheres of business, trade, tourism, agriculture, defense, measures against migration and other directions.
At the end of the meeting, President Margvelashvili invited his French counterpart to Georgia. In his turn, President Hollande confirmed his intention to visit Georgia.
