President of Georgia met with EU Representative Thomas Hammarberg

President of Georgia met with EU Special Adviser on Constitutional and Legal Reform and Human Rights in Georgia, Thomas Hammarberg. The Head of the State reaffirmed the political will of the government of Georgia towards continued reforms in the judiciary.

Giorgi Margvelashvili also said the year 2014 would be difficult enough for Georgia as the country was facing very serious challenges. He said the support of the EU was particularly important, especially through this year from the initialing until signing the EU Association Agreement. President called on the EU envoy to continue cooperation with the government of Georgia in 2014, even though his term as the head of the mission to Georgia expired in December 2013.

Mr. Hammarberg hailed the meeting with the President saying they had a very constructive dialogue. They discussed the recommendations offered to Georgian government in the sphere of human rights in September 2013, which should become the part of Georgia's national strategy and action plan.
