The President meets with the Minister of Agriculture of Japan

 

The President of Georgia held a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan, Mr. Koya Nishikawa during his official visit to the country. The President and the Japanese Minister have exchanged their visions on the agriculture sector development and the potential, which the two partner nations have in this field. The assistance, which the government of Japan is going to provide to Georgia, was also discussed along with the issues of introduction of modern technologies and cooperation in technical part of the agriculture sector. The sides said these were the segments of agriculture, in which Georgia really had deficit. “Cooperation in the field of agriculture with the government of Japan is of particular importance for Georgia and that’s why we discussed the prospects for partnership in this sphere. The need for sharing knowledge and experience in terms of modern technologies was particularly stressed. Considering the potential of the country, the prospects of production of agriculture products as well as turning it into a business was also discussed at the meeting. This will, on the one hand, force the replacement of import and on the other hand, help adapt to the export markets”, - the President’s Adviser Giorgi Abashishvili said after the meeting.
