Giorgi Abashishvili: Considering Russia's Unconstructive Steps, Special Importance Is Given to Georgia's Consistent Implementation of Foreign Policy

As part of his working visit to the United States, the President of Georgia, H.E. Giorgi Margvelashvili has held a meeting with the Senator Orrin Hatch in the Capitol. President Margvelashvili has stated that Russia's creeping occupation and illegal actions taken on the occupied territories, including the tragic death of a Georgian citizen, Archil Tatunashvili in the Tskhinvali region further escalate the situation in the region.
Conversation at the meeting focused on Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration, preparation for the upcoming NATO Summit, security environment and challenges in this regard.
According to Giorgi Abashishvili, Head of the Administration of President Margvelashvili, considering Russia's unconstructive steps, special importance is given to Georgia's consistent implementation of foreign policy and the consolidated support from the country’s friends and partners in the European Union and the United States.
"President Margvelashvili’s visit to Brussels, in the European Union served the purpose of advancing Georgia-EU bilateral and strategic ties to a new level. This visit to the United States is a continuation of this path,” Mr. Abashishvili said.
