President Margvelashvili Makes Opening Move in Chess Project “Million Moves”

President of Georgia, H.E. Giorgi Margvelashvili has made the first symbolic move in the chess project “Million Moves”. His opening move has been responded by Levan Antsukhelidze, son of the Georgian national hero, Giorgi Antsukhelidze.
The project aims at increasing worldwide involvement to further promote chess. Players make single moves through online platform. The platform, specifically designed by chess.com, is a bridge connecting peoples across the globe. The project idea belongs to Zurab Azmaiparashvili, President of European Chess Union and Aleksandre Sulava, Director of Georgian Chess Federation.
Online tournament will end several hours prior the start of the 43rd World Chess Olympiad. The World Olympiad will be held in Georgia, Batumi from September 23 to October 6 and will involve 4000 visitors from 189 countries.
Giorgi Abashishvili, Head of the Administration of President Margvelashvili and members of the Administration have also taken part in the project.
