​President Margvelashvili Awarded State Awards to 767 People in Total

During his five-year term, President Margvelashvili has awarded state awards to 767 people in total.
Title of National Hero was posthumously awarded to Maro Makashvili – Red Cross nurse, Mamia Alasania – Colonel and Guram Gabeskiria – Mayor of Sokhumi for heroism and great contribution to protecting Georgia’s unity and independence.
President Margvelashvili awarded Queen Tamar’s Order to Irina Enukidze for her dedication to the country and people, outstanding public activities and civil devotion.
Golden Fleece Order was given to 25 foreigners for their exceptional contribution to the development of the Georgian state, protection of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, establishment of democratic and free society, formation of bilateral mutually beneficial relations with partner states and international organizations, protection the rights of Georgian citizens abroad, promotion of Georgian culture, and development of Georgian science and art. Awardees are: Andrew Weber – Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear, Chemical & Biological Defense Programs, Johannes Cornelis "Hans" van Baalen – Member of the European Parliament, Zalmay Khalilzad – President of Khalilzad Associates, Donald Rumsfeld – Chair of Rumsfeld Foundation, Alexander Vershbow – Deputy Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Jean-Yves Le Drian – French Foreign Minister, John Martin – Executive Chairman of Gilead Sciences, Kurt Volker – United States Special Representative for Ukraine Negotiations, Damon Wilson – Vice President at the Atlantic Council, Alain Gournac –  Head of the Group of Georgian-France Friendship, Patrick Joseph Hickey – President of the Olympic Council of Ireland, Henry Kerali – World Bank Regional Director for the South Caucasus, Juan Jose Echanove – Head of European Neighbourhood Programme for Agriculture and Rural Development, José Manuel Barroso – President of the European Commission, Ben Hodges – Commanding General of United States Army Europe, Joseph Dunford – United States Marine Corps General, James Amos – Commandant of the Marine Corps, Conrado Pappalardo Zaldívar – Honorary Consul of Georgia in Paraguay, Joseph Anderson – ISAF IJC Commander Lieutenant General, Eldar Küçük (Elizbar Tsivnaridze) – House of Georgian Culture Istanbul, Kevser Ruhi (Ketevan Khantadze) – writer, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to Georgia – Yue Bin, Philip Mark Breedlove – Supreme Allied Commander Europe of NATO Allied Command Operations, Daniel Espren – Senior Advisor to the Mayor of Leuville- sur-Orge, and John Costello – Chief Executive Officer at CNFA.
President Margvelashvili has also given St. George’s Victory Order (26), Presidential Order of Excellence (52), St. Nicholas Order (4), Vakhtang Gorgasali’s I Rank Order (78), Vakhtang Gorgasali’s II Rank Order (107), Vakhtang Gorgasali’s III Rank Order (95), Order of Honor (225), Medal for Civil Commitment (10), Medal for Military Courage (46), Medal for Military Honor (19), and Medal of Honor (76).
