President Zourabichvili Visits Guria to Promote Domestic Tourism

President Salome Zourabichvili, as part of her regional visit to promote domestic tourism, toured the Orkari Canyon and local agrotourism businesses in the region of Guria.

The Orkari Canyon is a little-known destination, even for local residents and the President’s visit is aimed at helping for its stronger presentation and popularization to the general public, to contribute to the development of local tourism in Guria and the empowerment of local villages.

The President also visited the Komli Guesthouse, involved in agrotourism through its tea plantation in the village of Tsitelmta.

President Zourabichvili also toured the Eristavi Palace and its surrounding Dendrological Park in the village of Goraberezhauli, in the Chokhatauri Municipality, on the left bank of the Supsa river. The location includes archeological traces, included pottery found in the garden of the Eristavi Palace, that dates back to the 1st millennium B.C.E. The President toured the village’s Dendrological Park, which includes rare flora, including a Giant sequoia and a Japanese strawberry tree.

The President also toured the Sharashidze Wine Cellar in the Village of Bukistsikhe, in the Chokhotauri Municipality.
