President Zourabichvili Attends Barbare Shervashidze's Book Presentation

President Salome Zourabichvili attended a book presentation in honor of Barbare Shervashidze’s Memoirs at the Writers' House of Georgia.

Barbare Shervashidze, who died childless and far from her homeland in London, was the youngest daughter of Mikheil Shervashidze, the last Prince of Abkhazia. She left manuscripts of her memories to her elder husband, Alexandre Meiendorf.
The President of Georgia stated after the presentation that it is always interesting to discover old memoirs, especially if they cover very interesting eras and touch upon the life of someone who had to emigrate from her country.

“The fact that the history described in Barbare’s memoirs is a reminiscence of the history shared by Georgians and Abkhazians is extremely interesting. It helps set the base for our shared future,” said the President.

The memoirs were translated into Georgian and its comments, notes, genealogical tabs, and research sources were added by Maya Tsertsvadze.
As the author of memoirs’ preamble, Nino Khoperia wrote that the book intends on addressing the past events and is unique with its meaning. They can become a perfect picture to examine every aspect of Georgian-Abkhazian relations.
