President Zourabichvili Visits Almond Plantation and Lavender Field

President Salome Zourabichvili visited almond plantations in Sagarejo and a lavender field in Signagi.
President Zourabichvili visited the latter plantations to promote small and medium sized agricultural projects’ development.
She noted that every region in Georgia has a large potential in several fields that should be used to its fullest. Europe’s largest plantation of almond is in Kakheti, funded by an investment from “Adjara Group” by up to GEL 40 million. 2,000 hectares of plantations were set up in 2017. The agricultural project “Udabno” employs 500 people.

Investors plan to develop agrotourism as well in their future endeavors. President Zourabichvili also visited a lavender field in the village of Nukriani in the Signagi Municipality, which was planted in 2015 by local investments. Nukriani has become a very attractive touristic destination due to its lavender gardens, a novelty in Georgia.
