President Margvelashvili Awards Presidential Order of Excellence to Olympic Champions

As part of the festive week marking the 100th anniversary of the First Republic of Georgia, Giorgi Margvelashvili, President of Georgia has awarded Presidential Order of Excellence to Olympic champions.
President Margvelashvili has given the awards to 23 Olympic champions for their exceptional achievements in sports and special contribution to Georgia’s worldwide promotion. The awards have been given to:

1.         Alexander Anpilogov – Olympic champion in handball,
2.         Giorgi Asanidze - Olympic champion in weightlifting,
3.         Vakhtang Blagidze - Olympic champion in Greco-Roman wrestling,
4.         Davit Gobejishvili - Olympic champion in free wrestling,
5.         Vladimer Gogoladze - Olympic champion in sports gymnastics,
6.         Zurab Zviadauri - Olympic champion in Judo,
7.         Levan Tediashvili - two-time Olympic champion in free wrestling,
8.         Vazha Kacharava - Olympic champion in volleyball,
9.         Gela Ketashvili - Olympic champion in football,
10.       Kakhi Kakhiashvili – three-time Olympic champion in weightlifting,
11.       Manuchar Kvirkvelia - Olympic champion in Greco-Roman wrestling,
12.       Ketevan Losaberidze - Olympic champion in archery,
13.       Revaz Mindorashvili - Olympic champion in free wrestling,
14.       Roman Rurua - Olympic champion in Greco-Roman wrestling,
15.       Nino Salukvadze – Olympic champion in shooting,
16.       Viktor Saneev - three-time Olympic champion in athletics,
17.       Robert Shavlakadze - Olympic champion in athletics,
18.       Lasha Shavdatuashvili - Olympic champion in Judo,
19.       Raphael Chimishkyan - Olympic champion in weightlifting,
20.       Irakli Tsirekidze - Olympic champion in Judo,
21.       Leri Khabelov – Olympic champion in free wrestling,
22.       Shota Khabareli - Olympic champion in Judo,
23.       Davit Khakhaleishvili - Olympic champion in Judo.

President Margvelashvili has thanked the Olympic champions for the victories and wished them future success.
As he added, as part of this festive week, marking the 100th anniversary of the first Democratic Republic, special inputs of those people who contribute to the development and worldwide promotion of Georgia are highlighted.
“We attach special importance to this great celebration; your victories shine like bright stars of this celebration. Though we are not a big country having a flourishing economy, Georgia shines and has always been shining thanks to the people like you,” President Margvelashvili said.
