President Margvelashvili Attends Christmas Service at the Holy Trinity Cathedral

The President of Georgia, H.E. Giorgi Margvelashvili has attended the Christmas midnight service at the Holy Trinity Cathedral and wished Orthodox parish a merry Christmas.
"I would like to wish everyone a merry Christmas with great love and joy. Each year on this day we are filled with kindness and purity.
The Patriarch's epistle is always crucial to us, as despite leading a political life, we share visions and pain of our holy fathers and mothers living religious lives.
All these topics, raised in the Patriarch’s epistle, are highly relevant to this celebration. The Holy Family was united on this day when the Savior was born.
For a politician, strength of a family and own ability to strengthen schools, universities, kindergartens and those social services that will contribute to the welfare of a family are interrelated. This is my reading of this topic.
Also, I found topics related to drug policy extremely important. I have repeatedly emphasized that since punishment and coercion have not been triggering better results in our country for decades, but in opposite destroying the lives of many, I believe it would be better to deal with this problem through alternative means and think about how to alleviate the drug policy.
Therefore, today's epistle for me is how a politician can strengthen schools, kindergartens, social aid for families and make the drug policy more tolerant,” President Margvelashvili said.
Before the midnight service, President Margvelashvili visited the Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia, His Holiness and Beatitude, Ilia II at the Patriarchate and wished him a merry Christmas together with the Chairman of the Georgian Parliament.
The Christmas service has been held by the Catholicos Patriarch together with bishops and Archbishop Shio.
