President Zourabichvili Stresses Importance of Strengthening Inter-Parliamentary Relations at the National Assembly of Azerbaijan

As part of her official visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan, President Salome Zourabichvili held a meeting with Speaker of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan (Milli Majlis) Ogtay Asadov.

The meeting, also attended by Head of Georgia-Azerbaijan Friendship Group Zviad Dzidziguri and members of the Group, focused on the importance of strengthening Georgia-Azerbaijan inter-parliamentary relations. As highlighted, cooperation with parliamentary structures of international organizations is crucial for Georgia and Azerbaijan.

Georgia’s support for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan was highlighted. As emphasized, Georgia is grateful for Azerbaijan’s support for the country’s territorial integrity and the non-recognition policy of the occupied territories. As stressed, Georgia and Azerbaijan will continue supporting one another in all the international multilateral and bilateral frameworks.

At the meeting, special attention was drawn to the importance of joint energy and transport projects and benefits that these projects bring to Georgia and Azerbaijan.

The Georgian state delegation having attended the meeting includes Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Giorgi Kobulia, Deputy Chairperson of the Parliament and Head of Georgia-Azerbaijan Friendship Group Zviad Dzidziguri, Chair of the Diaspora and Caucasus Issues Committee and member of Georgia-Azerbaijan Friendship Group Zviad Kvatchantiradze, member of the European Integration Committee and member of Georgia-Azerbaijan Friendship Group Giorgi Mosidze, member of the Education, Science and Culture Committee and member of Georgia-Azerbaijan Friendship Group Nino Tsilosani, member of the Human Rights and Civil Integration Committee Ada Marshania, Head of President Zourabichvili’s Administration Lasha Zhvania, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Mikheil Ninua, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Azerbaijan Zurab Pataradze and Deputy Head of President Zourabichvili’s Administration Ketevan Makharashvili.
