President Zourabichvili and Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis Discuss Georgia-Lithuania Economic Cooperation

As part of her official visit to Lithuania, President Salome Zourabichvili held a meeting with Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis to discuss trade-economic relations between Georgia and Lithuania, bilateral sectoral cooperation, importance of engaging in all available EU frameworks, and prospects for intensifying cultural relations.

President Zourabichvili thanked Saulius Skvernelis for Lithuania’s unwavering support for Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Conversation also touched upon the current situation in Georgia’s occupied territories, Russia’s provocative actions, and the importance of the EUMM and Geneva International Discussions.

President Zourbaichvili emphasized the necessity to consolidate Georgia’s partners in support of the non-recognition policy and the country’s European integration path.

In terms of European and Euro-Atlantic integration, Georgia attaches great importance to Lithuania’s support and learning from the experience of Lithuania, 15-year-old member of the EU and NATO.

As noted, Georgia and Lithuania have prospects for developing fruitful cooperation in different areas of economics, namely, in agriculture, tourism, and information technology.

The significance of Georgia-Lithuania productive cooperation in education was stressed. Exchange programs between the two countries are successfully implemented. Also, Georgian Language and Culture Center operates in Vilnius University and Lithuanian Language and Culture Center in Georgian Technical University.
