President Margvelashvili Raises State Flag with Children of National Heroes

To mark the Flag Day, at the initiative of the President of Georgia, H.E. Giorgi Margvelashvili, flag-raising ceremonies will be held across Georgia. The President will take part in the event.
The Flag Day celebration has started at 10:00 am at the Presidential Palace where President Margvelashvili, together with the children of Georgian national heroes Giorgi Antsukhelidze and Zaza Damenia have raised the specimen flag that was created by the President several years ago. At the ceremony, Georgian state anthem has been performed by ensemble Shavnabada.
Head of Administration of the President of Georgia, Mr. Giorgi Abashishvili has addressed the Prime Minister, Chairman of the Parliament and representatives of other state agencies and encouraged the Georgian population to put on display Georgian state flags.
"Today the President of Georgia has raised the specimen flag that was created at his initiative three years ago. For last three years, the Flag Day is celebrated exceptionally. Each of us is proud of Georgian state flag that is an indicator of our distinctiveness.
Today the President will attend flag raising ceremonies in different regions of Georgia, together with athletes, teachers, doctors, militaries and emergency personnel. I would like to encourage each and every citizen of Georgia to join the President’s initiative and symbolically drape over Georgian state flags from own balconies and buildings.
I would also like to address and ask the Prime Minister, the Chairman of the Parliament of Georgia and heads of other state agencies to join this initiative and symbolically raise the state flags in all possible state structures,” Mr. Abashishvili said. 
Flag-raising ceremony has also been held in Kakheti, Ujarma Fortress, where lifeguards have raised the state flag. Georgian state anthem has been performed by Vano Mchedlishvili's choir. The ceremony has been attended by President Margvelashvili, Head of Administration Mr. Giorgi Abashishvili, Secretary of National Security Council Mr. Davit Rakviashvili, Parliamentary Secretary of the President Ms. Ana Natsvlishvili and Advisor to the President for Foreign Affairs Mr. Tengiz Pkhaladze.
"We are proud to raise Georgian state flag in Ujarma Fortress. Ujarma has always been the stronghold of Georgian statehood. We have hoisted the flag together with our brave lifeguards. I encourage everyone to join us and put on display Georgian state flags. Our flag is the symbol that unites us all,” Mr. Rakviashvili said.
As part of the event, the President will also visit Mtskheta, where weightlifter Lasha Talakhadze and athletes will hoist the flag at Bebris Fortress. The state anthem will be performed by ensemble Mtskheta.
In Gori, cadets will raise the flag at the National Defense Academy, at 12:30 pm, while the anthem will be performed by the military orchestra of Georgian Armed Forces. President Margvelashvili will address cadets and participants of the event and congratulate Georgia on the Flag Day.
In Kutaisi, the flag will be raised by doctors in the yard of the West Georgia Medical Center. The anthem will be performed by ensemble Kutaisi.
In Senaki, teachers will elevate the flag in the yard of the Seventh Public School of Abkhazia, which is named after Corporal Temur Bokuchava, who died in Russo-Georgian war of August 2008. Ensemble Senaki will perform the state anthem.
