Non-Governmental Organizations Present Candidates for Chairperson of the Central Election Commission to President Salome Zourabichvili

Salome Zourabichvili, President of Georgia has held a meeting with representatives of non-governmental organizations to discuss the candidates for the Chairperson of the Central Election Commission of Georgia (CEC). 
At the meeting, the non-governmental organizations, having observed the 2018 presidential elections presented their candidates, highlighting their professionalism and competence. They have also underscored the role of the CEC in conducting democratic elections and the importance of the efficient management of electoral processes. 
Having attended the meeting, Lasha Zhvania, Head of Salome Zourabichvili’s Administration made a press statement. According to Zhvania, President Zourabichvili will receive info and biographies of the candidates in a written form tomorrow, before noon. President Zourabichvili and non-governmental organizations, Zhvania added, will continue further cooperation on other significant issues as well. 
"At the meeting, we have agreed that cooperation with non-governmental organizations on the ‘Election Code’ and the electoral system will further continue. Hereafter, involvement of non-governmental organizations should be active, therefore consultations with the President on other significant issues will be continued. This format of cooperation is constructive, crucial and necessary.
As for the candidates, the non-governmental organizations have nominated several candidates. The President will make a decision on which three candidates to present to the CEC at the end of the day,” Lasha Zhvania said.
