Over 30 Countries Congratulate President Zourabichvili and Georgian People on Independence Day

More than 30 countries congratulated President Salome Zourabichvili and the people of Georgia on Independence Day, including Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom, Emperor Naruhito of Japan, and Pope Francis.
In a letter, President of the Republic of France Emmanuel Macron notes that despite the difficult regional context and political situation, independent Georgia has managed to become a democratic country in a short period of time, which is respected.
The President of France is assured that Georgia will proceed its profound efforts toward peace, stability and development in the future, together with the reinforcement of the rule of law and enhancement of the democratic culture. Emmanuel Macron also notes that Georgia can count on France’s support in all the mentioned issues. France and Georgia have developed special ties based on historical roots, trust and friendship between our two countries, and today, this is represented with your path.
 
“I am very happy for that and I am assured that the structured dialogue named after Amilakhvari, established last February during your visit to Paris, gives us the opportunity to realize the large potential of our relations in every field,” states Emmanuel Macron in the letter.
The President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, reiterates his steadfast support to Georgia’s sovereignty and its territorial integrity in a greeting letter to President Zourabichvili. He also notes that he will proceed to actively assist Georgia in democratic enhancement and economic advancement.
President of Estonia Kersti Kaljulaid supports Georgia’s determination to be part of the EU and NATO. She also states that the reform path and strengthening the rule of law allow Georgia to be ready for the moment when the window of opportunities in the EU and NATO arises.
In a greeting letter by the President of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, the existing historic, friendly and good-neighborly relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia are highlighted.
 
“I am convinced that our cooperation, both in bilateral and multilateral formats, our strategic partnership based on mutual trust and support, will develop and expand according to our peoples’ interests,” stated President Aliyev.
