President Zourabichvili Congratulates Georgian Military Serving Abroad as Supreme Commander-in-Chief

President Salome Zourabichvili, in her duty as Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Georgia, congratulated the Georgian military units deployed in Afghanistan, the Central African Republic, and Mali on the New Year from the Military Command Center of the Ministry of Defense of Georgia.

The President, accompanied by Minister of Defense Irakli Garibashvili, and Lieutenant-General Vladimer Chachibaia, Chief of the Georgian Defence Forces, also congratulated the personnel of the Armed Forces on the New Year:

“I would like to congratulate you on the New Year! I wish this year be a peaceful and successful one for you and for your families. I wish you to return back to your families and make them happy. You keep your country safe and powerful! You are exemplary with your attitude and professionalism. Today, our country needs examples just like you.

“We just witnessed that one person managed to show us all the pattern of dignity. You do the same every day, quietly. I am convinced that this is your daily merit toward our country. It is of the utmost importance that, you participate in overcoming common international challenges with the international community.

“We are in real terms speaking here about joining the EU and NATO. But, in some way, you have already become their members, as you work with our partners and we see how much they appreciate your engagement. In all meetings, our partners have underscored the commitment that you demonstrate toward our common goal. On behalf of our partners and on my own, I would like to express our gratitude. Once again, I wish you all health, success and Georgia’s unification and its reinforcement!”
